I occasionally feel something akin to a moral obligation to purchase a camera of some sort, particularly before I embark upon my adventures in foreign climes. The sort of blog in which I am most interested typically has something to do with various popinjays parading themselves about in their new and intricately knotted ties and finding the time to be incredibly intelligent in between. I suppose I wouldn't mind following suit, although it does seem like an awful lot of bother, as well as a great many buttons. And, of course, I feel as if one is supposed to take photographs while one is travelling. The last time I only ever remembered to do so when Liz reminded me, although I really am glad that I have them now. I can't help but feel that I'm a bit better with words than I am with pictures, though. Would you forgive me if I simply told you about it?

Also, and far more importantly, I'm bored with my hair to the point of madness. The back is shaved and the front is purple as a peacock (I am aware that peacocks are not, in fact, purple). I suppose that it's all well and good, but I've done this before, and my heart isn't in it. I think it would be amusing to have entirely normal hair for once. But I cannot find appropriate examples. I doubt that most pretty scissor-wielding lasses in this town would be able to interpret, "like Jarvis Cocker in 1995, only less greasy and more good." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Film cameras are dirt cheap now that everything is going digital. And in fact, decent digital cameras are also cheap now.

But, if you really wanted to be awesome and go retro, you could find a Polaroid camera. The other week the last Polaroid film factory shut down. It might be your last chance to take some Polaroids.

Actually, Fuji'll still make Polaroid-compatible film, so we're still safe.

I'd worry that any initial savings would quickly be negated by having to pay to have film developed. But perhaps I do prefer "real" photographs. Hm.

My friends have been following that closely. Hasn't another company taken over production of Polaroid film?

Real photos are neat, but can be difficult to maintain over time. And also heavy.

If you do it the right way (and most people don't) archiving digital photos should be much more reliable. And you can always get them printed out if you want them to be tangible.

I love taking photographs, if you wouldn't then do not. But, perhaps borrow a camera for a weekend and give it a try?

About your hair. I require lots of pics for what you like, dislike, and want to adapt. Curly compatible styles are not my forte, could you have Morissey hair?

That is an excellent idea! I wonder if my sister would let me borrow hers.

Part of the problem is that I'm really not sure. I've been straightening it lately, and it stays straight easily when it is short, but perhaps Morrissey hair is far closer to what I want than should be willing to admit. You're brilliant, and I'm unfortunate.

I started a project on the day of St. Valentine this year...One year of documentation. A picture each of myself, and a thing that grabs my attention.

Being that this is the start of what is indubitably an Interesting Year, I think that being able to look back on the photos might be interesting.

They are currently only on my myspace. However, I've been wanting to find a better and more permanant home for them.

I can't actually seem to find your pictures. I'm sorry for being dumb at the myspace. I've never used it.

Ah-ha. That was me being dumb, not you. The photos were set to friends-only. I had forgotten.

Now if you go to the page, and click the View My Pics link, you should see the folders I'm talking about.
