I, being brilliant, managed to injure my back a bit doing yoga. I hadn't moved in months; I deserved it.

Things aren't so bad. I'm only a bit pinched, and I can walk. I pillaged the ocean depths with most of my usual ferocity yesterday, but I find myself wishing two things: that I could spend the next week as the slave of opiates, censored only by my own occasional lapses into better judgement, rather than by the fact that only two pills remain until my doctor has time to see me on Thursday. Also, I've been looking for a good cane since my August accident, but this city has failed to supply one that felt worthy of me. One might be useful just now. Still, vanity over comfort any day, yes?

I tried pasting the broken link in, but it didn't connect to a comic.

That should work? If not...I'll set the internet on fire.

oh dear. please inform your back that its behavior is entirely unacceptable.

(paranthetically speaking, you may want to discuss this whole yoga-with-a-bad-back thing with linda, who has non-insignificant experience in the subject)

*gentle hugs*

slim as the chance may be, I hope your region allows sword canes!

My region does, but most events do not. I wonder if it would be worth it if I couldn't bring it everywhere? I've mostly been looking at old ones, besides, and most of the antiques I've seen haven't had hidden blades. Our grandmothers understood the importance of a good club.

I like these two sword canes, although I would buy neither as it is unclear whether the grips rattle or not.
But Rattan is material some martial art practice weapons are made from. At least you'd be able to practice or attack without messing with the release mechanism. There are books out there somewhere that have specific sword cane technique.

Please inform of desired length of cane, along with pommel style of preference.

I don't know at all! I keep assuming that I'll recognise it when I see it. I need something elegant, sturdy enough for beating ruffians and rogues. I like ones with animal head handles and silliness like that, but it's always a bit too clumsily done. It should be thirty-two inches or so, I think?
