Last night Mat, a dear friend from my university days, came to visit before he runs away to travel the world. He'll go to Ireland, then Britain, spend time in Amsterdam and Prague, see Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, India and Japan, and a good many places I'm forgetting, almost entirely by himself. I cannot wait to talk to him upon his return. He and my roommate Beth and her boything Brian and I stayed up late into the night eating something like Indian food, talking, eating brie and fruit, talking more, and drinking beer and cider while Mat tried to restrain himself from taking ten thousand photographs. The following represent a few of his indulgences.

I suppose I don't mention it here quite as often as I ought, but I have a modest collection of antique vibrators. This one was made in 1918 or so, if I recall, and is my favourite mostly due to its being shaped like a ray gun. It kicks, too, although it smells of something burning when in operation.

How long ago was it that I promised pictures of my tattoo? I'd have a second one by now were it not for the vengeful snapper.

Pardon the bruise. Again, the fish and the resulting tetanus shot can be blamed.

Dear Sir Jack,
While your new tattoo is wonderful, and your antique vibrator quite intriguing, neither holds a candle to the overall adorableness of you.
With all respect and adoration,
The Lady Crow

I do indeed own a pair of these lovelies. Perhaps I will wear them at the party to celebrate your birth.

I don't know. But it's a much more cool, much more interesting Labyrinth than one just made of stone or steel. Honestly, in the simplest use I could think of, it might work really well for one of the "Denizens Wanted" pages.

Did you want to use this image, or something shot specifically for that purpose? If you'd like to use this one, I can put you in contact with the photographer, although he is leaving within the week to see the entire world.

That image would work just fine. Not that I would object to something specifically shot for that purpose, but I don't know how often thou'rt photographed!

Hee! Thanks. The summer makes my hair go crazy. I employ seventeen lion tamers in an attempt to force it to be reasonable.

I hate your new hair. And by that, of course, I mean that I love it so much that my love turns to hate, back to love, and then back to hate again.

My goodness, thank you! Not at all; I think a good many of my online acquaintances are quite nice to look at as well. Your keyhole tattoo is fantastic, and the ideas you recently mentioned sound lovely. Do you know any artists working in blacklight ink?

Ah, not yet, but I've been doing a bit of research about it. Apparently there are two kinds, and there have been all sorts of problems with the first kind that contains phosphorus - fading yellow (in regular light) and causing skin problems, but the other, newer sort, has yet to have any issues.

The closest place listed on the Chameleon online distributors page that uses any of their inks is in Oregeon. Most of their colors show in regular light as well as under UV though. :o}

Thank you!

A good many of my friends are body modification artists of various sorts. One is the proud owner of the only black light tattoo I've ever seen in person, and a strict veil of silence surrounds the mystery of who the artist may have been.

I see. Well, they're fairly popular with ravers, I doubt if I'd have too much trouble finding advice of that sort at a kandi kid party (my favorite kind since 2001) :o}

Excellent. Do I need goggles, or will the gas mask be sufficient?

(Never mind that the answer to the question, "Do I need goggles?" is always quite obvious.)
