i've been adventuring in pittsburgh.
megan and i went on a plane and took a nice bus ride and went to a cafe. i learned about jump5. we experienced kaitlin's apartment, which used to be my apartment too. improvs didn't happen because we are not very smart and sometimes forget to check for audience members in the theatre, but a playground did happen, and it was very nice. i climbed a tree, and megan helped me down, and liz tried to teach me to swing up-side down, but my battles with gravity rarely turn out well. after this i think i ate breakfast.
there was exploring of the southside in which megan obtained, apparently, the only piercing not allowed at whole foods, and i bought her and the house a hookah, which, apparently, is allowed by airline security. sometimes the world surprises me a lot. sunburn also surprises me a lot, even though i am a pale thing who does not like to wear clothes inside or out and turn quite red rather often. we went to a corporate coffee establishment where kaitlin's boyfriend works and megan's ethics do not. (she sold her wicked soul for chai, protesting as if she hasn't done the same dozens of times in the past.) kaitlin and megan and alex and meredith and i saw mr. and mrs. smith, which was a truly hot thing. after that there was a bit of drinking and some rousing parlour games.
at some point during the course of all this i began bleeding and realized that i'd foolishly left my cup at home. in a quest for a suitable replacement, i learned that none of the drug stores i visited sold reasonable alternatives like instead cups or non-bleached tampons. in asking for them, many of the women who worked in the shops that i spoke to asked for more information and were actually rather excited and curious about what i told them, thus making me, as meredith told me i must tell you, the johnny appleseed of menstrual activism. eventually i gave up and megan bought a keeper at whole foods that was returned to her when i was done borrowing it and that she will keep as her own if she tries it and likes it.
there was a trip to the library and a walk and picnic with meredith. we watched bjork's film dancer in the dark and really didn't like it very much at all.
we played in vintage stores and we went to the aviary where i bought a gay penguin shirt but, woe of woes, failed to meet a talking crow. there was a baby. we ate lunch. later we met friends and went out to dinner and then to a new friend's house.
on the airplane this morning megan and i met a very nice gay flight attendant who took a fancy to us, first flirting with us when giving us complementary drinks. he then began sneaking us gifts, beginning with kid's snack packs when no one else on the plane got anything to eat besides peanuts, then wings, then a collection of southwest airlines playing cards and two pens and a beach ball, and finally tossing a full plastic bag of individually wrapped bags of peanuts at megan. we're in love with both him and the gay discount. it was terribly silly, but sort of the kind of thing that one can expect from southwest airlines, which tends to be irreverent and wonderful.
now that i'm home i've had a class on porn. good night.
