there is something about watching the city in which i live explode that i find to be just the smallest bit too enjoyable. perhaps i have allowed myself to become to corporeal, then.
making lots of food is difficult, but satisfying.
my favourite part of today may have been telling kaitlin about why i love dostoevsky, after we'd listened to radiohead in the almost rain by the almost fire. i also kind of liked when ben learned that finn is a boy, though, because i like being tricky. oh! and there was also the pie without pi, a peach pie made in a square cake dish, because liz and i realized at the last moment that we only had one pie tin.
tomorrow will be exciting because i will make my traveling mix, which will of course be called LA, but might also be called manifest destiny. i make mixes so very rarely, and never for anyone but myself. for this reason, i think of them as slightly scary things. i think of music as something that i don't know very much about; it is also something about which i think many of my friends know lots and lots. i generally very much enjoy intellectual domination, whatever my place in the situation, but under certain circumstances i just begin to feel intimidated and cannot speak. i rather wish that the last parts were not true. at any rate, things i like about making mixes when i do are that they teach me new things about the music i am listening to at the moments when i travel, and about the people or places i am going to visit. i also like that they work better than photographs.
so, next week will be exciting, because i will meet the west coast and meghan and whales and the frouds, and i will see my whitney, whom i adore and talk about constantly.
the week after that will be exciting because it will be my birthday and alex's birthday and somewhere between there our birthday party. july seems like a lovely month, thus far.
ghost cats are coming out from under chairs, so perhaps it is time that i found my bed.
