pick a city or three, please; tell me why i should go there. (american cities need not apply.)

London. Because, well, obviously. Also good for running away, because it's home and yet big enough to get lost in. But then, I imagine you'll spend plenty of time there in the future anyway ... So maybe not.

How about Bangladesh? I don't know why, I know nothing whatsoever about Bangladesh ... Except that I love saying "Bangladesh" and it sounds like the sort of exotic crazy place one would run away to.

Tokyo. Because it's a helluva mindfuck. Fun and crazy and achingly beautiful in that overwhelming way (Lost in Translation is so eerily accurate it left me in shock) and like no place, people or culture you can even imagine.

I'm sure I could think of more, but that's three.

Or you could just go to Galway. Everybody loves Galway.

i'm trying to talk myself out of london because it is just so expensive. i don't know anything about bangladesh either, and that seems like a perfect reason to go there... tokyo is actually really high on my list, if only because i can't really think of myself as a world traveler if i've only ever been to europe.

1) Here. Cause we're here and you could just hang, for cheap, or free, really.

2) Cambridge, UK. Because we're not there anymore, and we love it and miss it and you might as well see what's to love about it. It's beautiful and you can easily be quiet when you want, and around a lot of people when you want. It's ridiculously liberal, you can still be a freak if you like, but it won't cost you your sense o community.

3) New York City. Oh, crickey, it's a cliche suggestions, but that means you might as well get it over with. You can choose to do the cheesey touristy thing, or not. There are plenty of both sorts, of all sorts, really. You could see the Cloisters.

did you add the (american cities need not apply) thing before I commented, because I totally didn't see it)?

okay Obviously 1) Here is out, so I'll replace it with Mumbai, Because I want to go there really badly myself.

and 3) I'll replace with Amsterdam, because it's fucking Amsterdam! *boggle* who doesn't want to visit there at some point?

(hee. new amsterdam, meet old amsterdam...) you're right again, that is definitely someplace i need to go. it has the best sex worker unions in the world!

1. orlando, fl to meet lil' ol me for tea;
2. st. augustine, fl to see the oldest establishment [? is that what it is?] in the us;
3. south beach, fl b/c there's nothing anywhere else like it.

all in a day's drive.

I'd like to point out how happy I am that everyone ignored your discrimination against America. Or was that an edit?

Nevertheless, I'll follow your misguided instructions and recommend Toronto, entirely because of Degrassi. Or do you mean no cities in the continents of America? If that is the case, I think you should move to Pluto. Yes, the icy quasi-planet. Pluto: If you lived here, you'd be home by 2014.

*laughs* it was an edit. i'm terribly sorry. it's not that i don't want to live in america persay, it's just that i needn't really run away to do that.

i'd considered toronto for the same reason...

ah, the first tenth planet... what culture... what sights... the architecture is brilliant there.

Prague-The architecture or the price of garnets alone should be enough reason, the history, language, and location make it obscenely appealing(to me at least).

Kingston Ontario- I feel much affection for this Canadian college town though I've not seen it for about 6 years. It is cold and colourful. I think the houses are what claimed me.

Norwich England- You should visit in spring or summer and walk around the lake on campus often, shout at the ducks and dogs, eat yoghurt, take pictures, go the market, play billiards at the Hog and Armour. It's a wonderful, medieaval, rabbit infested, sort of place.

Not that you shouldn't fly kites from a glacier, camp on mountainsides, study music in cathedrals, or anything else you fancy.

1) Dubrovnik - very pretty and beautiful and very welcoming of not only tourists, but smart, artistic people who want to spend quality time there. Much artsy stuff there to see and do.

2) Tibet - Mind clensin, not even to see a Lama or a monk, just to know that you are in their homeland would settle me. I wouldn't mind sitting with a monk either, but alas, war sucks.

3) Maybe somewhere in India - TO appreciate all you have and understand better what to do with it all ( talents and materials) (not saying you don't already.)

Santorini, Greece. It is supposed to be one of the most breathtaking places in the world. My parents went without me.

Columbo or Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. My old roommate was from Columbo. It's a beautiful country, and very inexpensive (once you're there, at least).

The Underground City of Australia. I saw it on a travel show when I was a child & have always wanted to go there. I don't know if it has a name...

Also, Iceland & India are two locales I'd much like to tour. Sorry, that's more than three suggestions.

we were only in athens, and they were getting ready for the olympics, so a lot of things we wanted to see were closed. we were followed and surrounded by big creepy guys a lot. we weren't sure if this was because we were girls or americans or both. it was in the middle of the war, though, and it probably just wasn't the right time to be there.

Tokyo: it's the city that never sleeps. it's beautiful and fun and filled with interesting people.

Sydney: it's in Australia, one of the most beautiful of beautiful places, it's filled with fabulous people and the money is pretty ;)

Since I don't know anything about living anyplace other than Southern California, I shall list the places I want to see most of all. And for the record, I think that wherever you go you should take me with you, so that we can finally live in the same place and carry out that passionate romance.

Tibet.

Morocco. (Which I desperatly want to see, but it is unfortunatly not a safe place to go at all nowadays)

Istanbul.

Paris. (I've already been there, I know, but it was for something like four days, and I thought it was terribly romantic)

Johannasburg, South Africa.

There are others, but that's more than three, so I'll leave off there.

ooh!

paris, yes. i'm actually really kind of considering going there. what do you think?

In Paris, if a woman smiles to strangers on the street (like we Americans frequently do) they are considered whores. If I were in Paris, I would smile at everyone, especially french puppies.

As for a suggestion, I hear that most parts of Finland are beautiful.
