it would seem that, besides this english major nonsense, i'm also quite good at this feminist/queer/gender theory foolishness. i'm so glad.

my shakespeare professor wore tweed today. we talked about hamlet. meep.

i'm getting next semester sorted. it looks like i'll be taking inclusive education in a diverse society, and literacy and society. for my two remaining higher level english classes, i'll take victorian literature and contemporary criticism. i'm most excited about the last one. deconstructionist, neo-psychological, neo-marxist, new historical, feminist, sociological, and aesthetic criticism, oh my. perhaps it's just me, but i think that sounds hot. i need something else, too, but i need more information for that, so for now i'll just ignore it and hope it goes away.

i talked to my whitney on the phone today, because she is on my coast. and alex became my new melodramatic nineteenth century penpal, because he is neat.

i miss the dublin queers rather a lot as of late.

girls who are boys
who like boys to be girls
who do boys like they're girls
who do girls like they're boys.
(always should be someone you really love.)

My english professor wears ripped jeans, and got to explain Victorian lovemaking to clueless fratboys (who know not the meanings of "supple",nor "pliant")

I don't know how I'd get through that class if he hadn't come out to me last week.

*laughs* sometimes, in their own little way, the frat boys make it all worth while... in my class, they're so convinced that all shakespearean characters are straight. it's so quaint.

oh, that only would have made it worse. le sigh.

what class is it?

World Lit,but it's a core class so it's all watered down. It's more like high school than college, except we don't get "homework" everynight.

I'm trying to prepare for school ->
How much studying do you do? I have a good idea that Clara spends hours on end reading textbooks...But I need to engrave it in my head more.

Thanks!

well... i'm an english major, so i kind of don't study. (that's not to say that none of us do. i've just never gotten much out of it.) i have lots of reading to do, usually on the scale of something like two novels, three short stories, and one shakespearean play a week, so however long it takes me to finish that.

Okay, and I'm sure it helps immensely that you're actively interested in what you're reading....I plan on doing my best in taking things that will inspire and motivate me.

Thank you, Penny!

So, on which edge of this great state of ours will your new semester of classes be located?
