jacktellslies: (logarithmic spiral)

it was under english trees that i meditated on that lost labyrinth.

i've fallen in love with borges, as many have told me i would. the garden of forking paths is beyond the power of superlatives to describe.

ceil and i went to see monster. i'm not sure that's a film i could intelligently discuss. it was excellent, though. a small rant on revenge fantasies and some musings on why more women don't kill their attackers wants to be here, but again, i'm not sure it's something i can articulate well. she liked wolves, though. that has to mean something.

ceil is neat. she's going to get a livejournal now! welcome to livejournal, ceil.

i made her one of the "fight fatphobia" buttons i'm making for [livejournal.com profile] virgomochabeing, so she gave me $1.23. progressions of numbers are wonderful. also, the number twenty three is amazing, especially when selected randomly. i am a happy nerd.

tomorrow/today is the boy's birthday! (the seventh. not the sixth, even though the number six is far superior to the number seven.) happy birthday, finn! go sing happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] camarguais.

Thank you so much, again, for helping me be rioty one button at a time. :)

I feel like having a pin or a shirt or whatever is not enough. SO many things need to be done to make it okay for everyone....I'm at a loss for words.

I really wanted to se Monster (more or less because of Angie) but I honestly don't think I coudl ahndle it if I couldn't watch Texas Chainsaw...What are your recommendations?

*laughs* all in a day's work. :P

it's on a completely different level from films like that. parts of it were very hard to watch. i had a hard time with her rape, especially as images of women who are tied up upset me a lot. her murders didn't get more violent, but they were presented as having less and less justification, which made it more upsetting. i definitely recommend the film, but scenes like her rape and a monologue on child abuse could definitely be triggering for some people. i hope you do get to see it.

Wow, thank you so much.

i am forewarned....Movies like that I'm moreup to watching with ciompany than alone. Ya know?

[identity profile] earlofgrey.livejournal.com 2004-03-07 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
i definitely agree. people who will drink tea with you afterwards and bring you back out of your head and into society also help a lot.

If you don't see them, they won't get you.

Yes, the number 23 is SO amazing...mostly because it is mine. ;)

[identity profile] earlofgrey.livejournal.com 2004-03-07 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] spanishdoll23.livejournal.com 2004-03-07 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] earlofgrey.livejournal.com 2004-03-12 09:29 am (UTC)(link)

Should I see Monster?

[identity profile] earlofgrey.livejournal.com 2004-03-08 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
i think that you should. i'm putting it on a pile with boys don't cry, though, of films that are amazing and that i love but that i'll probably never be able to watch again.

[identity profile] randiriel.livejournal.com 2004-03-08 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
*nod* I never saw Boys Don't Cry.
