Sometimes not jumping is hard.
Apr. 13th, 2006 11:02 amMost of the time, I am content to attempt to live my life in such a way that I feel that I am doing as little damage as possible, with the hope that I can one day become an agent of positive change. I don't own too much, and I don't drive, and bankers do not directly get rich on my money, and I try not to waste or to let things just be thrown away. I try to learn, and I try to teach. However, I cannot deny that there is a very large part of me that prefers tearing things down, that wants to be there, boots bloodied and hair singed by the heat of the city burning. V for Vendetta is a very good film, and is very good at making me want this. I like to think of the Mirabel sisters smuggling guns and making bombs in the living room, too.
I walked farther than you, yesterday. From my house at 12th and further south than South Street, Parker and I walked to the movie theatre at 40th and Chestnut, two-thirds of the way home and two-thirds of the way back for a missing mobile phone. (The frat houses in University City are far, far too nice. We discussed arson.) We went wandering a bit, went onward to 21st and Market, and then, at long last, home. I stopped there for a bit before walking by myself to Passional at 5th and Bainbridge and back because, even after all that, there are things that just cannot be allowed to sit in a shop alone all night.
